LET YOUR GUARD DOWN

The air was thick with tension as Alexander entered the dimly lit warehouse, the scent of gunpowder lingering like a ghost from the recent skirmish. He scanned the area, focusing on the chaos that had erupted amongst his associates. Bodies lay sprawled across the floor, and sirens wailed in the distance, signaling the impending arrival of law enforcement.

But it wasn’t the carnage that held his attention; it was Bianca. She stood in the center of the room, her dark hair tousled and her eyes fierce, clutching the gun with an unexpected calmness. Her attire, a fitted leather jacket and jeans, contrasted sharply with the bloodied scene around her. Alexander could see the injuries on her body. She exuded a raw confidence that Alexander had not anticipated from someone raised in the sheltered world of the mafia.

“Not exactly the welcome party I expected,” she quipped, smirking at Alexander as if they were merely discussing the weather instead of the aftermath of a violent clash.

“Bianca, what are you doing here?” he asked, his voice a mix of astonishment and concern.

“Saving your ass, apparently,” she replied, her tone laced with playful defiance. “You should consider hiring me as your bodyguard.”

Despite the gravity of the situation, a smirk tugged at the corners of Alexander's lips. There was something invigorating about her spirit—a breath of fresh air in the suffocating world they inhabited.

Before he could respond, he heard the familiar voice of his associate, Antonio, groaning nearby. Alexander rushed to his side, kneeling beside him. “What happened?”

Antonio grimaced, clutching his side. “Ambush. They knew we were coming. But… she held her own,” he muttered, nodding towards Bianca, clearly impressed.

Alexander exchanged a glance with Bianca, who shrugged nonchalantly. “I didn’t come all this way just to save your ass.”

As they waited for backup to arrive, Alexander felt a shift within him. The idea of marrying Bianca no longer seemed like a burden; instead, it felt like the beginning of an alliance that could be advantageous for both of them. She had shown herself to be a strong, independent woman who fears nothing.

“Let’s get out of here,” he said, helping Antonio to his feet. “We need to get Antonio to the meds.”

Once outside, the cold air hit them like a slap, and the chaos of the warehouse seemed to fade into the background. Alexander glanced at Bianca, who was staring off into the distance, lost in thought. She looked vulnerable for a moment, and he felt a surge of protectiveness wash over him.

“Bianca,” he began, choosing his words carefully, “I know this marriage was not your choice, but I want you to know that I’m willing to make it work. We can create our path—together.”

Bianca turned to face him, her expression shifting from surprise to contemplation. “You’re serious?”

“More than I’ve been about anything in a long time,” he admitted. “I want us to trust each other. We’re in this together now.”

AFTER A FEW MINUTES.....

Once Antonio was being treated by the doctors, Alexander had Bianca all to himself. He made her sit down in front of him with a first aid kit in his hands, he kneeled down himself and started cleaning Bianca's injuries. Bianca had nothing to say; she just kept her eyes on Alexander, who was focused on treating her wounds, trying his best not to make the pain worse. Bianca was moved by this act of Alexander, the most feared man was on his knees in front of everyone just to treat her wounds without any shame or thoughts about other people's opinion. Bianca could sense a lot of stares towards them because of this act of Alexander. She finally let her guard down and smiled a bit through the pain.
